    Both help prevent pregnancy, but only condoms also protect against STIs. With typical use (real life, including mistakes), the pill is about 93% effective at preventing pregnancy over a year and condoms about 87%. The pill has to be taken every day, and it’s best to start it after talking to a doctor so they can check it suits you. Lots of people use both together for pregnancy and STI protection.
